ABOUT

The Clarkston Conservatory of Music is a nonprofit educational institution dedicated to bringing the joys and benefits of music to the people of Oakland County and the village of Clarkston. Our instrumental and vocal instructors hold advanced degrees in their field of expertise. The Conservatory was founded in 1961 by Ivan Rouse, and is now operated by Dr. James Wilhelmsen. It is housed in one of the oldest buildings (built in the 1830s) in the Historic District of Clarkston.

We’re here for beginners from 4 to 64, for middle school and high school students and adults; whether you’re preparing for a career in music or simply playing for the joy of it. We’ll help you learn to play in an orchestra or a garage band, sing in a choir or a pub, rock out on Mozart or create your own music!
